Bec Brown

Presentation Topic: Ballet Pointe: Pre-Pointe Preparation, Assessment and Pointe Shoes.

Bec is a passionate and experienced Exercise Physiologist working mostly in the field of musculoskeletal rehabilitation and high performance. Since graduating from QUT with a Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology in 2016, Bec has undertaken further professional development studies in pain management, clinical Pilates, strength and conditioning, sports training and dance specific injury management and high performance.

Embracing a lifelong passion for dance, Bec completed her ATOD and RAD examinations in ballet, jazz, contemporary and tap, while also choreographing for musical theatre projects. She transitioned from full-time dance training at QUT into the field of Exercise Physiology as she was fascinated by human movement and helping people optimise their physical well- being.

Clinically, Bec finds great joy in working with dancers of all ages. She frequently performs pre-pointe assessments for dancers starting the exciting journey onto pointe. Bec also works with dancers in strength and conditioning, injury prevention and injury rehabilitation. She loves helping dancers learn more about their body, educating them on safe dance practice and watching them improve that extra one percent. Bec continues to dance herself and loves encouraging others to keep on dancing, no matter what stage of life.

Engaging with patients who have persistent pain is also a special interest for Bec as she is an advocate from modern pain science education. Currently studying a Graduate Diploma of Psychology with Monash University, Bec is dedicated to gaining a deeper understanding of psychological aspects related to pain management, rehabilitation and performance.

Bec has spent most of her professional career working at RMPhysio with a talented team of Exercise Physiologists, Physiotherapists and Podiatrists. This year she stepped away from the clinic to pursue starting a small business and focusing on further study.
