Presentation Topic: Growth Related Injuries, How are they managed in elite performance programs?
Josh Butcher is currently the Human Performance Manager at Melbourne Victory FC. Trained as a Podiatrist and Physiotherapist his experience sits firmly within youth development and optimising football performance. His role involves overseeing and supporting many performance disciplines within the clubs, multiple programs including: Physiotherapy and player rehabilitation, Sport Science, Strength and Conditioning, Psychology, Nutrition and Sport Medicine.
His primary focus has been within player pathways, developing processes and procedures to educate and manage overuse based presentations within the clubs multiple high performance programs. His approach combines both sport science principles embedded into the regular training week to monitor maturation, physical development in a mean's to formulate best practice return to play.
Alongside this his work with many Victorian based universities to support young practitioners get early exposure to elite performance pathways offering mentoring and placement in addition the clinical research into high football injury area's such as Lumbar Bone Stress and Growth Related injuries and innovations within the Sport and Exercise Science space.
