Presentation Topic: Strong Foundations: Integrating Women’s Pelvic Health into Lower Limb Injury Prevention and Performance
This evidence-based session introduces the intersection of musculoskeletal and pelvic health in active women. It highlights how biological, hormonal, and biomechanical factors influence injury risk, recovery, and performance, with a focus on the lower limb.
Key Learning Objectives:
- Understand sex-specific risk factors for lower limb injuries (e.g., ACL, patellofemoral pain).
- Recognise how hormonal cycles, pelvic floor function, and energy availability affect lower limb biomechanics.
- Identify early signs of pelvic health concerns (e.g., stress incontinence, prolapse) in athletic populations.
- Introduce screening considerations and red flags relevant to women in sport.
